The
Trinity of God
Jesus:
The Expression of God
God in three persons blessed
Trinity. We sing this in church,
but what does it mean when we say God in three persons?
Recently, I went from a state of awareness to taking into my heart an
understanding of the Trinity of God that is both accurate and endearing.
God reveals the Trinity of God to
us in Genesis 1: 1- 4.
1
In
the beginning,
God created
the heaven and the earth. (God
the Father = the Creative Mind of God)
2
And
the earth was without form, and void: and darkness was upon the face of the
deep. And the Spirit
of God moved
upon the face of the waters. (God the Holy Spirit = the Movement or Action of God)
3
And
God said. Let there
be light; and there was light. (God
the Son = the Word or Expression of God)
4
And
God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the
darkness.
God the Father is the Creative Mind of God
God the Son is the Spoken/Written Word (the Expression) of God
God the Holy Spirit is the
Movement or Action of the interconnected
Father and Son
God
is the perfect mind, the perfect word, the perfect action
Therefore, God is one presented to us in three persons.
John 1: 1 - 5 & 14
1
In
the beginning was The
Word (the Son of God), and The
Word was with God,
and The Word was God.
2
The
same was in the beginning with God.
3
All
things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4
In
him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5
And
the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
(Jesus, The Word of God is our light that shines in the
darkness of this sinful world)
14
And The Word was made flesh (was
expressed in human form - Jesus
Christ), and dwelt among us,
and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full
of grace and truth.
Jesus Christ is The (spoken/written) Word of God.
He is an Expression of God.
Therefore, Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
Our perfect Holy God came to earth in flesh form.
Therefore, Jesus Christ is also the Son of man.
Endearing is thinking of Jesus
Christ as being the expression of God. Three
illustrations follow:
§
God
the Father (The Mind) expressed himself in the Garden of Eden through God the
Son (The Word) making the promise to come in flesh form to “bruise his (Satan’s)
head and thou (Satan) shall bruise his (Jesus’) heel.”
(Basically this means Jesus Christ will come and be victorious over
Satan.) Genesis 3: 14-15
§
God
the Father (The Mind) expressed himself through God the Son (The spoken Word)
hundreds of times throughout the Old Testament as recorded by prophets about the
Savior (Jesus Christ) to come.
Sampling of Old Testament Quotes (KJV) -
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a
virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
Isaiah Chapter 53 describes Jesus, His role, His suffering, etc.
Verse 5: “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for
our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with His stripes
we are healed.”
Zechariah 9:9 “Behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having
salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.”
Daniel 7: 13-14 “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of
man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they
brought him near before him. And
there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people,
nations, and languages, should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting
dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be
destroyed.”
§
God
the Father (The Mind) expressed himself through God the Son (The Word) who
became the Son of man through virgin birth.
Luke 1: 35 “And the angel answered and said unto her (Mary),
The Holy Spirit (The Movement of God) shall come upon thee, and the power
of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that holy thing which shall
be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”
Jesus Christ (The Living Word) is
the greatest expression of God’s love for us.
God provided the required payment through Christ’s pure blood sacrifice
that ransomed sin-filled souls. He
provided the undeserved gift of salvation and eternal life to all who believe in
what God accomplished through Jesus and receive Jesus (The Word) into the
deepest part of their hearts.
Endearing is realizing that when we
truly receive Jesus and what He has done for us into our hearts, we become
adopted sons and daughters of God. Therefore,
here on earth we have become the very expression of God (The Word).
Jesus (The Word) has come to dwell in our hearts and changes our lives
and through the mighty movement of the Holy Spirit, we become vessels who share
our testimonies and spread the good news of Jesus (The Son of God), The Faithful
and True Living Word of God.
Revelation 19: 11-16
11
And
I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was
called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12
His
eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a
name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13
And
he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his
name is called The Word of God.
14
And
the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine
linen, white and clean.
15
And
out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations:
and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16
And
he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD
OF LORDS.
Instead of
describing our incredibly awesome Triune God by comparing Him to water or to an
egg or to an apple, we need to honor God in every way and provide mankind with
an accurate understanding of the Trinity of God.
